About Tech Tansfer Summit North America 2011

The Leading International Academia-Industry Partnering, Licensing & Collaboration Initiative for the Biotech Sector--Bethesda, Maryland, USA, 3-4 October 2011

The Tech Transfer Summit™ initiative is the original global initiative for networked international Biotechnology transfer meetings. A pioneering initiative developed not just to foster talk, but to highlight best practices and lessons from the foremost practitioners of tech transfer worldwide. The initiative leads the way in providing a forum and platform for learning, networking, partnering, licensing and cooperation. In the current economic climate, there is money available but at what valuation? Increasingly there is angel money available but bar an increasing number of syndicated angel investors, follow-on finance in the $3-10MM range is increasingly difficult to source and secure. Deals are being done of course but on what terms? Large companies need to collaborate, partner and license – indeed perhaps more than in recent years, but what criteria have changed?  In such market conditions, understanding, knowledge and important connections to deliver the transfer of valuable and sought-after technology is a pre-requisite.

The Tech Transfer Summit organisation is structured unlike any other. It recognises that good business develops by, first and foremost, building a good relationship. Good relationships take time and necessitate trust and respect and perhaps most importantly, intelligent discourse. The organisers believe in quality and that by bringing together a high-class field of both speakers and delegates alike, and placing them in surroundings that allow for relaxed debate and negotiation, key components conducive to the instigation of real-time business can flourish. We know that stakeholders understand the existing processes. We feel that events are predominantly about four things: quality, debate, deliberation and networking with key stakeholders in order to make a difference. The TTSNA provides exactly these things, and offers qualified TTOs and early-stage SMEs access to an unmatched group of senior industry licensing, external research, and business development executives. Just register following the special link on our registration page to guarantee access.

It must be stressed that attendance must be regulated and indeed officiated on the campus of our co-sponsors, the NIH, and therefore we encourage you to register now as entrance on the day will not be permitted.

The TTSNA offers an unparalleled platform, pioneering the effort to ensure that world-class innovation is applied and brought to the market for the benefit of society. It is the one major initiative that aims to bring together globally early stage SMEs, university and institute TTOs with industry licensing executives to partner and do business. It recognizes the increasing importance of integrating all that is translational medicine. It recognises the greater depth and maturity of the North American market by including senior financiers, both PE VC and institutional that can highlight what is crucial in the sector at the current time. It’s about utilising and financing science & innovation rather than leaving it to sit on the bench. Bringing together key stakeholders in the sector, the Tech Transfer Summit™ provides an un-matched environment for instigating and fostering increased and improved technology transfer, making sure that the true potential of world-class research is achieved.

In turn, industry participants are afforded direct access to senior technology managers and Tech Transfer Officers from key research universities across North America in a major international initiative focused on building better early stage SME and industry-academia relationships and cooperation in the biotechnology and life sciences sectors. The reason participation is limited to approximately 450 attendees is to ensure an ideal interactive format for discussion, licensing & deal-making.

In summary, the 2nd Annual Tech Transfer Summit North America™ takes place in Bethesda, Maryland, 3-4 October 2011 on the NIH campus courtesy of our co-sponsors the NIH. We must stress again that you must register through the website registration page to guarantee access.
